He said apart from the Central government sanctioning funds to the States, the Union Ministers have also been making separate allocations. Venkaiah laid foundation stone for construction of a stadium at a cost of Rs 4.85 crore in Ozili mandal on Friday.

He said the Centre was allocating 42 per cent of funds to the State governments, 5 per cent to gram panchayats, and 2 per cent for disaster management activities. He pointed out that remaining 51 per cent of funds are being spent on recommendation of the Union Ministers.

Venkaiah said the Central government is giving funds to the States for improving basic infrastructure. He said Andhra Pradesh was provided Rs 600 crore recently. He said the Centre has been according priority for sports and games as they would help people to keep fit and healthy. He regretted that in many villages, traditional games were gradually vanishing due to changing trends.

The Union Minister said the Centre was according priority to provide housing facility to all and added that 4,050 houses were allocated to Nellore district. Health Minister Dr. Kamineni Srinivas, MLC V Narayana Reddy, former minister P Ratnam, senior officials and BJP leaders were present.

Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a new building for Kendriya Vidyalaya at Kothuru in the city limits on Friday. The school is running in Mulapet currently and the classes would hereafter be conducted in the new facility constructed at a cost of Rs 8.79 crore.

Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, MP M Rajamohan Reddy, city Mayor Abdul Aziz and others were present. The Union Minister also laid foundation stones for community health centres to be constructed at Venkatachalam and Vinjamur in Venkatachalam mandal.
