The Maoists, who since decades battled and evaded police, are left option less. Health concerns, ailments and diseases off late have been hitting them hard and those who are operating in Andhra-Odisha Borders (AOB) and Visakhapatnam Agency areas are worse affected.
Kudumula Ravi, who carried a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head, died of jaundice recently and three more have surrendered to police in Vizag on Thursday. This statement stands a testimony to the fact that the health is taking a toll on the Maoists.
According to sources in the intelligence wing, Maoists operating in Vizag and AOB are suffering from various ailments and seasonal diseases and due to threat from security forces they are unable to get treatment.
Among the Maoists, who have surrendered Gemmeli Bando alias Rasso had abandoned her squad due to gynecological issues; while another woman Maoist Vantala Chechu alias Vasantha was arrested by the cops, while she was being treated in the Agency area.

Meanwhile, it is being said that the death of Ravi has led the cadre to think of leaving the party. Three Maoists including a woman area committee member (ACM) who carried a reward of Rs four lakh on her head surrendered before the Vizag rural police here on Thursday.
Speaking to The Hans India, additional SP of Vizianagaram KVA Naidu said that it is difficult to manage in forests, once health gets deteriorated and appealed them to surrender apart from promising better treatment and livelihood.
