Eamcet passes off smoothly
The Eamcet which was conducted in 25 centres here on Friday went off smoothly. According to Regional Coordinator G N Pradeep Kumar, the attendance for the Engineering stream was 98 per cent while it was 95 per cent for medicine. Of 11,235 candidates in Engineering stream, 10,793 have appeared and 442 were absent for the examination held in the morning.

Of 11,235 candidates in Engineering stream, 10,793 have appeared and 442 were absent for the examination held in the morning.
With regard to Medicine stream, test was conducted in the afternoon and 5,586 candidates appeared against 5,858 applied and 272 were absent. Authorities including police made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the examination here. However, traffic snarls were witnessed for some time in between NTR Circle to SV University area where most of the centres were located.
SV University Vice-Chancellor A Damodaram visited some of select centres in the university and expressed his satisfaction over the conduct of the examination and the arrangements being made for the test. Free transport facilities were arranged by the APSRTC, Tirupati Urban police and some local colleges which saw the candidates reach the centre with no difficulty.
Social service organisations like Satya Sai Seva Samithi offered laudable service by providing cool water and butter milk at all the centres, much to the relief of the candidates and their parents.
