Responding to the Union Minister of State for Home HP Chaudhary’s statement in the Rajya Sabha on Friday of AP not needing Special Category Status, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that it was not correct as AP recorded the lowest per capita income among southern States and Centre should be generous towards the state so that they are on with other developed States.

Addressing a workshop at Andhra University Convocation Theatre in Vishakapatnam, Chandrababu said that he won't be compromising with the Centre on the State Reorganisation Act and added that he would raise the issue again with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter.

The Chief Minister reacted strongly against YSR Congress and the Congress parties for creating hurdles in the development of the state by faulting construction of capital Amaravati, every irrigation project, Bhogapuram international airport and other projects. Pointing out the two parties didn't find time to approach the Centre for more funds or water, Chandrababu said that he visited Delhi as many as 30 times to seek the State’s due and asserted that he won't give up until the commitments made by the Centre are fulfilled.
