Kakinada: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Saturday arrested a bike lifter and recovered 15 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 5.5 lakh from him. According to police, a team was conducting vehicle checks in the city when they intercepted one Gadi Satya Akhil Kumar (22) riding a motorcycle. When asked for the Registration Certificate of the vehicle he was riding, he gave several excuses.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to have stolen bikes in Kakinada II Town, III Town and Sarpavaram in Kakinada rural and Prakash Nagar police station limits in Rajahmundry. Addressing the media, CCS DSP Pitta Somasekher said that the accused is a commerce graduate and was addicted to vices. The DSP said that the accused apparently turned to crime to fund his vices.
