In a review meeting conducted with R&B officials at CM office here on Sunday night, the Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare proposals for outer ring road. He set a time limit of 18 months for the completion of Vijayawada- Machilipatnam highway.

He asked the officials to speed up the process of converting 1,205 km of State Highway road into a National Highway. He said that the State government is in continuous dialogue with the Central government to establish a regional office of the National Highways Development Authority (NHDA) in Vijayawada. Through the establishment of the regional office of NHDA, widening of roads and construction of new highways will pick up pace, said the Chief Minister.

He instructed the officials to complete road widening works between Vijayawada and Gundugolanu at the earliest. He stressed the need for coordination among R&B officials and the Collector for completing all pending works.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to speed up the National Highway widening works between Aanadapuram and Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district. He directed the R&B officials to submit land acquisition schedule to the Collector as soon as possible. He said 680 km of the two-lane national highways would be converted to four-lane highways with assistance from NHAI.

The Chief Minister said priority must be given for the beautification of highways and asked the Collector to submit a detailed plan for the same. Minister for Transport and Roads and Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana, Principal Secretary to CM Satish Chandra, Joint Secretary Rajamouli, Special Secretary, R&B, B Shyam Babu and other officials were present at the meeting.
