Amaravati: Zilla Parishad Chairperson Shaik Janimun dug a rainwater harvesting pit on the ZP office premises in Guntur city on
Wednesday. Speaking on this occasion, she urged the residents to dig rainwater harvesting pits in their house to protect groundwater
level. She said that they would dig another rainwater harvesting pit on the ZP office premises.

She said that the government had decided to dig 10 lakh rainwater harvesting pits in the district. She stressed on need to dig farm ponds
in the agriculture fields. She reminded that the government had taken up Neeru-Chettu programme to improve groundwater levels.

Rural Water Supply Superintendent Engineer Bhanu Prasad and ZP officials were present.
