Road works to be over by July 15

Vijayawada: Transport and R & B Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Wednesday inspected the Durga temple flyover and other R & B roads in the city and instructed the officials to complete the development works of roads by July 15. The Minister announced that the Government had sanctioned Rs 28 crore to the R & B department for the development and beautification of R & B roads in Vijayawada city as part of Pushkaralu grant.
He inspected the Durga temple flyover construction works, Gollapudi bypass road-widening works, Eluru road and Tunnel road works and expressed satisfaction over the pace of works.
Later, he told the reporters that the Government had converted 2,636 km single lane roads into double lane and developed other roads to the extent of 2,890 km in the State during 2015-16. The Minister said the R & B department had constructed five Rail Under Bridges and 19 other over bridges in the State in 2015-16 and decided to convert 2,517 single lane roads into double lane in 2016-17.
He said that the R & B department has decided to develop roads to the extent of 2412 km and set the target of constructing nine Rail Over Bridges and 25 other bridges in the State during this financial year. He said Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was giving top priority for construction of roads and bridges and asked the R & B officials to complete the Durga temple flyover works and other road works in Vijayawada by July 15.
