In a bid to revamp the economic status quo, a 50-member team of top brass business delegates from Japan, led by Seiji Takagi, Director General, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI), visited the Sri City on Wednesday. 

Tirupati: In a bid to revamp the economic status quo, a 50-member team of top brass business delegates from Japan, led by Seiji Takagi, Director General, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI), visited the Sri City on Wednesday.

The intent of the visit was to witness and gain first-hand knowledge about the industrial park, assess its business potential and explore the possibility of setting up industries. During the briefing session, the delegation evinced keen interest and quizzed on different aspects of the Sri City. Later they had a glimpse of the industrial zone and visited the plant of the Isuzu Motors India.

Ramesh Subramaniam, President, Sri City Foundation, who welcomed the Japanese delegation, explained the infrastructure facilities available at Sri City and its brisk pace of development. Expressing satisfaction on the available infrastructure and location advantage, Seiji Takagii said, "I am impressed by the potential of Sri City."

Anil K Choudhary, Development Commissioner, Sri City SEZ, Rajendra Reddy, Joint Chief Environmental Engineer, APPCB, Kurnool, Ramalinga Raju, General Manager, District Industries Centre, and Pratapa Reddy, Zonal Manager, APPIIC, and Executive Officer, IALA, Sri City were present.

The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), which operates under METI and fosters the growth of Japanese companies outside Japan, coordinated the visit.

Members of the delegation included CEOs and senior executives of leading Japanese industries and business corporations such as Sumitomo Corporation, Internet Initiative Japan Inc, Mizuho Bank Ltd, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO),

Oriental Consultants India Pvt Ltd, Toshiba Corporation, Mitsui & Co Ltd, Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development, Nippon Signal Co Ltd and a host of senior Japanese government officials. Naoyoshi Noguchi, Chief Director General, JETRO, New Delhi was also present.
