Vijayawada: The State government is set to declare youth policy shortly, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday. Addressing the second day of the Collectors Conference, the Chief Minister asserted that he was keen on promoting youth in all sectors.

Naidu said that the government had decided to make physical education part of curriculum. “We would also provide basic infrastructure in the villages and mandals for the youth to take to sports and games,” he added.

The Chief Minister informed that the government would select one person for every village to be the physical literacy in-charge, who would encourage children and youth in sports and games. “The government would also provide basic training for the youth to join armed forces. This year, the government had trained over 7,900 youth to join defence services,” he said.

Chandrababu Naidu asked the Collectors to coordinate with the education officers, institutions and sports associations in promoting physical literacy in the districts starting from village level. “Physical literacy would also keep the youth healthy and energetic,” he said.
