Vijayawada: Expressing serious concern over delay in flyover works near Kanaka Durga temple ghat road, the BJP leaders are planning to complain in this regard to Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

The BJP leaders said devotees would face inconvenience if the government fails to complete the approach road near flyover site during the Krishna Pushkarams.

The BJP leaders led by former MLA Vellampalli Srinivas, BJP City Committee president D Umamaheswara Raju inspected the flyover works on Friday and discussed with the officials and engineering staff about the construction works.

They expressed concern over the delay as it would cause hardships to devotees and residents of Bhavanipuram, Vidyadharapuram and those coming from Hyderabad. Vellampalli Srinivas said that people are suffering due to traffic problem as they have to make a roundabout journey to reach the city.
BJP city president D Umamaheswara Raju alleged that the contractor is responsible for the delay in completion of flyover works.

He said that despite Collector’s repeated appeals the works are being delayed and expressed doubts over completion of the flyover by December as the contract expires on December 28. BJP leaders, including KS Armugam, B Sriram, T Sivanageswara Rao, M Subbaiah, Adapa Nagendra and others were present.
