New Delhi: The BJP national leadership would interact with the TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu in a week to resolve pending political issues, including seeking a Rajya Sabha seat from its ally from Andhra Pradesh. It also is planning to elect its new president for the State in a week.

While Andhra Pradesh has four RS seats, candidates for which are to be elected now, three of these would go into the kitty of the TDP and the fourth seat in all probability would be bagged by its rival, YSRCP. The YSRCP has already nominated V Vijay Sai Reddy, the family auditor and a co-accused in all the CBI and ED cases being faced by Y S Jagan and he has already filed his nomination.

The BJP had sent Nirmala Sitaraman from AP the last time who went on to become a Cabinet Minister and colleague of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time around Sitaraman is also seeking a re-election. It has not been clarified by the BJP whether it would be from AP this time. Meanwhile, the fate of Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu is also hanging fire as he too seeks a re-election. Naidu has become a RS member from Karnataka the last time.

Meanwhile, it is said that BJP national president Amit Shah would initiate talks with the TDP to resolve “all pending issues" in a week or so. BJP is studying social equations in AP as well the political groupings closely and would evolve its plan to hook "the right persons and leaders" in due course. It would also announce the name of the new president of AP unit of BJP soon.

As for Telangana, the BJP plans to encash on the differences of the leaders in the badly-mauled Congress and the TDP. The latter (the TDP) is a good hunting ground it feels as the TDP leaders could be more comfortable in the lap of the BJP to take on the TRS and the Congress.

At the same time, the party leadership is not averse to taking the TRS into its fold by the next general elections. A source said, "there is no confusion here at all. We shall be friends with the TDP till the very last and decide on the inevitable at the nick of time. As for Telangana, we shall fight the TRS till the end and keep strengthening ourselves and if need be, allow it to join hands with us later."
