Kakinada : The earmarking of site for Hardware Park in a private land is a cause of concern for BJP leaders who have been expressing concern over lack of much needed care and attention on behalf of AP government.

The GMR, which has been the prime owners of about 8,800 acres of land under KSEZ in U- Kothapalli and in the neighboring Tondangi mandals in East Godavari, has come forward to allot 100 acres of land for setting up the Hardware Park. It is said that the promoters of KSEZ wants to allot the land for various industrial purposes in a quick session to avid the decade-old stalemate in promoting the industrial activity.

The GMR public relations officer, Srimanth Reddy, said that land to the extent of 100 acres was earmarked in the KSEZ for the Hardware Park on long-term lease as the same was being promoted under public private participation (PPP).

When contacted, the KSEZ special officer, Kora Jayaraj, said that they were not concerned with land allotments but only the land acquisition process on behalf of government.

The East Godavari BJP unit president, Yenimireddy Malakondayya, wanted to know how the State government was connected in appointment of special officer for the land requirements of private organisation like GMR.

The party senior leader and former East Godavari unit president, Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju, said that till now they were in anticipation of allotment of required land by State government for this project as the same would provide large-scale employment.  The AP government often accuses the NDA government for not allotting projects for the State, but would not provide basic infrastructure for grounding of allotted projects, he alleged.
