Vijayawada: The newly-appointed office-bearers of Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha city unit took an oath at a programme held at the party office here on Saturday.

Participating in the oath-taking ceremony as chief guest, senior BJP leader Yerneni Sita Devi exhorted the party activists to strive for empowerment of women. The Mahila Morcha should popularise the schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of girl child and empowerment of women, she said.

BJP leader Jogulamba said the Mahila Morcha activists should be tech-savvy and utilise the social networking sites as an effective medium to promote the party ideology and commitment to people’s welfare.

BJP city president D Umamaheswara Raju urged the Mahila Morcha members to highlight the problems faced by women and strive to get them solved.

BJP leader and former MLA Vellampalli Srinivas, BJP city general secretaries Thota Sivanageswara Rao, Babburi Sriram and KS Arumugam, Mahila Morcha in-charge Puvvada Malakondaiah, city Mahila Morcha president Namala Rajasri and others were present.
