Hyderabad: With Andhra Pradesh government having decided to shift the employees to Vijayawada and Guntur by June 27, employees from different departments sought the intervention of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the long term ally of TDP to stall the efforts.

Raising slogans of “No to temporary shifting, Yes to permanent shifting,” the employees on Thursday met the BJP leader and former Minister Purandeswari and Spokesperson Sudeep Rambhatla and poured out their woes.

Calling the circular of the government as unilateral decision, the employees of the Departments of Road and Buildings, Medical and Health, Forest, Irrigation, Technical Education, Animal Husbandry, Secretariat Gazetted Officers Association and others submitted a memorandum to the BJP leaders. They also sought the intervention of BJP in mounting pressure on its long term ally to stop the shifting on temporary basis.

The aggrieved employees said that they were opposing the temporary shifting due to lack of proper infrastructure facilities for offices, sky racketing rentals, medical facilities, children’s education and the issue of amendment to Article 371 D related to nativity.
Without clarity on the nativity issue, the employees said that they would become second rate citizens and may possibly become enemies of the locals in the CRDA region. Earlier the TDP govt wanted to shift the administration in a phased manner, but suddenly the government came up with a circular to move by June 27 forcing people to face several hardships, they added.

The State government also asked the HODs to find out their own accommodation to shift the offices, paying Rs 30 per sqft. “The Medical and Health department needs one lakh sqft, Irrigation department 75,000 sqft, Road and Buildings about 50,000 sqft.

At this rate, the government has to shell down rentals to the tunes of lakhs of rupees for each department, wasting public money,” they further added. In addition to this, if a single file would be missed during shifting, the concerned staff would be charge-sheeted.

Responding to the same, Purandeswari said that though they had been listening to such problems, this is the first time that the employees have come forward to specifically submit a memorandum highlighting their issues. She assured to take up the issue with the TDP government as well as the Centre in case of Article 371 D.
