Tuni: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has declared that the state government would soon take possession of the Sakshi Telugu daily and TV channel being run by Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Speaking at the valedictory function of the Nava Nirmana Deeksha here on Wednesday, Yanamala said the state government has formulated a new legislation to prevent illegal amassing of wealth through graft.

The President and the Centre have given assent to it. The new legislation is in vogue in some of the States. As per the new law, the State Government will have powers to take possession of the properties attached by the Enforcement Directorate.

“Jagan is claiming to have moved heaven and earth. That is why a piece of legislation has been brought. The President of India and the Center have given their ascent to it.

“The law is in vogue in some of the states. I wish to convey the fact that the government will bring Sakshi Telugu daily and Sakshi TV channel under the government management invoking the law against the two media organisations. It will be done not out of vendetta.

You have floated the Sakshi newspaper and Sakshi channel by looting public money to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore. While in the Opposition, you have shouldered the responsibility of destroying the whole state using the media organisations. The TDP when in the Opposition went on record about it.

Enforcement Directorate gathered information about it and attached some of the properties. There are many more properties yet to be attached. The state government is making efforts to take possession of them too. Whatever we do, it is not for the benefit of the TDP but to protect the interests of the state and for the development of the state.
