Having gone through the elections to Khammam Municipal Corporation and Palair Assembly by-poll, the party functionaries have now set their eyes on filling of nominated posts in the district.
Khammam: The TRS cadres in Khammam district are upbeat with the news spreading that the long-awaited exercise of filling of nominated posts is finally to begin with the constitution of committees for the agricultural market yards.
Having gone through the elections to Khammam Municipal Corporation and Palair Assembly by-poll, the party functionaries have now set their eyes on filling of nominated posts in the district.
Taken aback by the reservations to women, the leaders who pinned their hopes on nominated posts, especially the lucrative ones like the market yard committees are now busy lobbying for their close relatives, mostly spouses.
It may be mentioned here that the State Assembly had recently passed a Bill meant for undertaking reforms in constitution of agriculture market committees implementing the rule of reservation for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities for nomination
of chairman to agricultural market committees.
Against this backdrop, Khammam Assembly constituency TRS in-charge Gundala Krishna, known as RJC Krishna, is tipped to become the Khammam chairman of the Khammam Agricultural Market Yard, said to be the second biggest yard in the State after Warangal. Krishna who contested Khammam Assembly seat on TRS ticket in 2014 lost the election to Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
It may noted here that the Khammam market yard which has about 80-odd years history is without a committee for the last two years. The term of the previous committee headed by Manukonda Radhakishore appointed by the then Congress government ended in May 014.
According to sources, the government has finalized the committee and sent it to the revenue department to verify whether the members mentioned in the list comply with the eligibility norms of the agricultural yards. It’s learnt that the Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao had recommended 11 names for the 14-member market committee.
According to sources Tallada Ramesh, Dirishala Srinivasa Rao Jadala Nagesh, Sheikh Bade Saheb Pasumarthi Rammohan, P Sanjeevaiah K Ramajogaiah S Madhava Reddy V Jyothy J Ram Jagga Rao and Thata Ravi are expected to be the committee members.
