​Kakinada: Ruling Telugu Desam MLC Reddy Subrahmanyam on Thursday alleged that District Collector H Arun Kumar was not following the protocol in receiving the elected representatives when they call on him on various issues relating to their respective constituencies. He made this unusual remark against the Collector at the commencement of East Godavari ZP meet.

Responding to the allegation of the MLC the Collector said that there was no protocol as such to receive people’s representatives at the doorstep and said that he shows no disrespect to the elected representatives.

He also made it clear that he has been attending to the phone calls of all people’s representatives and denied neglecting the MLAs. Later, while replying to the queries of ZPTC members, District Education Officer R Narasimha Rao said that out of the 29 lakh textbooks requirement for distribution for the needs of school children in the district, 27 lakh books were received by June first week.

With regard to the unrecognised schools in the district, the DEO said that the authorities identified 86 schools under this category and appropriate action would be initiated against them.

The meeting also discussed issues relating to Panchayat Raj RWS, DRDA and others.
ZP Chairman Namana Rambabu ZP chief executive officer K Padma, heads of various departments, MLAs, MLCs, ZPTC members, MPPs and others attended.
