50 per cent quota for BCs sought

Pithapuram (East Godavari): District BC Welfare Association president Pampana Ramakrishna on Saturday expressed apprehensions over
loss that will be caused to the BCs by virtue of their inclusion of Kapus among the BCs. He demanded 50 per cent quota for BCs on the
basis of their proportion in population. Addressing media, he said inclusion of the Kapus among the BCs without causing harm to the
BCs was not feasible.
Muslims who enjoy 4 per cent quota as BC-E are entitled to contest 33 per cent of the seats, he said adding that the BCs would face
similar situation in the event of their merger with the BCs. He demanded categorisation of quota for the BCs.
BC Youth Welfare Association president Reddy Suresh and others were present at the news conference.
