The State government departments would get only 1.6 per cent land for construction of buildings in the capital region. As per the existing master plan, the State government has decided to allocate 900 acres for construction of government buildings.
Vijayawada: The State government departments would get only 1.6 per cent land for construction of buildings in the capital region. As per the existing master plan, the State government has decided to allocate 900 acres for construction of government buildings.
So far, the State government has taken 33,000 acres of land from farmers under land pooling. Besides, the government owned another 20,000 acres of land. Altogether, the government has 53,000 acres of land in the capital region. Of the total 53,000 acres, the State government has announced that it will allot 900 acres for construction of government buildings.

As per the existing master plan, 10,000 acres will be allocated to farmers as per the agreement. Another 10,000 acres will be used for infrastructure development. The remaining 13,000 acres will be in the hands of the government.
So far, the State government has not announced how it would use 13,000 acres of land. It has announced that 900 acres will be allotted for construction of government buildings in the core area.
The government departments are waiting for the announcement of the government on allocation of sites for construction of buildings. Some government departments want to mobilise funds from donors or utilise own resources for construction of new buildings in the capital region.
The State government too allotted funds for construction of new buildings for the government departments. CPM CRDA region coordination committee convener Ch Baburao said the government must announce how much land it would allocate to each department in the capital region.
He said the State government has taken lands from farmers promising it will construct the capital with the lands taken from them. He said that some government departments are struggling to get huge buildings in Vijayawada or Guntur for setting up new offices as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is insisting that all State government departments must be shifted from Hyderabad to either Vijayawada or Guntur by June 27.
