Tanuku: Kapu community members wore black badges to express their solidarity to fasting Kapu leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham in Tanuku and Iragavaram mandals in West Godavari district on Tuesday.

They staged a protest at Kommayicheruvu area in Tanuku town, protesting against the attitude of the Government towards Mudragada Padmanabham. The Kapu Welfare Association led the protest. The agitators demanded that the Government stop harassing Kapus and their leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

Meanwhile, in Relangi village, youth led by Kapu Youth of the mandal hoisted black flags in the village, protesting against the Government’s harassment. The youth tied the black flags to electric poles in the village. The youth also sported black badges. They alleged that the government, which came to power with Kapu votes, was now oppressing the community people.
