Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya (APMS) activists staged a dharna at Lenin Centre in the city on Tuesday denouncing the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. Speaking on the occasion, AP Mahila Samakhya city general secretary Panchadarla Durgamba flayed the Telugu Desam Government for its failure to check the spiralling prices of pulses and vegetables.

She attributed the steep rise in the prices of vegetables to acquisition of thousands of acres of agricultural land for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s grandiose plan of capital Amaravati. She demanded that the State Government take immediate measures to check the spiralling prices of pulses and vegetables. All essential commodities should be supplied to the poor and middle class people through fair price shops by strengthening the Public Distribution System in the State, she said.

Mahila Samakhya district secretary Pamidimukkala Rani, leader Durgasi Ramanamma, former corporator Thammina Durga and others took part in the dharna.
