Land allotted for Congress party office cancelled

​Hyderabad: The ruling TDP government had given a shock to the Congress party on Monday by cancelling a land allocation order, sanctioning one acre of land to construct district Congress party office at Chinagadili village in Visakhapatnam district.

According to a government order, the State government had allocated one acre of land to the president of District Congress Committee, Visakhapatnam, on September 1, 2008, during the Congress government’s tenure. The land was alienated in favour of the Congress party charging Rs 100 per sq ft.

• The State government called for a report from Visakhapatnam Collector, who favoured revoking the allotment made to the DCC and to provide an alternate land to it

However, the land originally belonged to Animal Husbandry Department. But, it was later given to Revenue Department for establishment of Health City and to allocate the same to various medical institutions.

For this purpose, the land has been handed over to Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for development and allocation of land to medical institutions.

However, following a request made by the DCC, Visakhapatnam, one acre out of about 111 acres had been allocated to it. But, the DCC did not utilise the land as per the conditions of alienation.

Also, since APIIC had allocated the same land to a medical institution, it had requested the government to withdraw GO issued allocating the land to DCC.

Following this, the government has called for a report from Visakhapatnam Collector, who favoured revoking the allotment made to the DCC and to provide an alternate land to it, the order said.
