Rajamahendravaram: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham continued his indefinite fast on the ninth day on Friday demanding the release of 13 persons arrested in connection with the violence that took place in Tuni on January 31 during Kapu Ikya Garjana. Doctors who were treating him termed his health condition as stable.

So far, 10 out of the 13 accused have been sanctioned bail. However, the bail petitions of Kapu JAC leaders Nalla Vishnu, Akula Ramakrishna and Vasireddy Yesudas were dismissed by the Magistrate on the grounds that the remand report submitted by the police contained technical errors. Fresh petitions have to be filed on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the sleuths of CBCID and the government emissaries including East Godavari Collector H Arun Kumar and Visakhapatnam DIG Srikanth rushed to Rajamahendravaram government hospital on Friday for further round of discussions with Mudragada and to persuade him to end his fast.

But, Mudragada was resolute and made it clear that he would end his fast only after the release of all the 13 arrested persons.

B Gayatri, Pithapuram Additional District Court Magistrate, granted conditional bail to Nakka Sai, Ganesula Rambabu, Ganesula Lakshmanrao, Mudikonda Pavankumar, Madala Mahendra alias Phani, Kurakula Pullayya, Palla Srihari, Chakkapalli Satyanarayana and Lavudu Srinivas.

They were asked to pay Rs 10,000/- bond each with two sureties and appear in Tuni police station every week until the case is closed. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the railway police of Visakhapatnam have filed another petition before the Pithapuram additional district court to handover Lavudu Srinivas to their custody.

Speaking to reporters, members of the medical team who were treating Mudragada said that IV fluids were being administered to the Kapu leader since Thursday night and added that the recorded blood sugar level was 119 and HB-1C level 8.8. They pointed out that the ketone level was at “4+”. It could be reduced through administration of IV fluids.

Doctors further informed that his BP reading was 140/80 and pulse rate was 88. They made it clear that Mudragada’s kidney functioning was good.
