Maddilapelm station to be modernised: RTC MD

Visakhapatnam: Managing Director of APSRTC N Sambasiva Rao has said that the Maddilapaalem bus station will be developed on the lines of Surat and Ahmedabad bus stations where most modern facilities are available to the passengers. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the MD said the modernisation of 103 bus stations in the State would be taken up at a cost of Rs 33 crore. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao and Sambasiva Rao laid foundation stone for the construction of a bus depot at Thagarapuvalasa.
The Minister said that the RTC Bus Depot would become a hub for operation of RTC buses to the city, towards Anakapalle and Pendurthy and towards Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. The Minister also said that demand for the RTC depot at Tagarapuvalasa was pending since long. It had not materialised in the past due to land acquisition issues.
The four-lane Beach Road from Visakhapatnam to Bheemunipatnam, the IT and Tourism projects coming up and the Bhogapuram International Airport would ensure a lot of activity and movement of people from Bheemunipatnam and Tagarapuvalasa and RTC would provide the much-needed connectivity.
A passenger terminal would also be constructed in the same compound, the Minister Rao said.
