Kakinada: As rains continued for the fourth day, water stagnated in streets due to bad road conditions and lack of proper maintenance of drains in Kakinada division on Thursday.

At the busy Balaji Cheruvu centre in Kakinada city, the water stanmnation continued due to continuous rains and lack of proper maintenance of drains.

Meanwhile, the rains in the last four days said to have helped agriculture sector.Former AP Water Users Association general secretary Kovvuri Trinadha Reddy said that as this was the beginning of agriculture season, the rains would help in taking up sowing works.

Meanwhile, senior scientist of Deltaic Research Centre of National Institute of Hydrology, Kakinada said that the steady rain fall at 3 mm to 5 mm per hour helped in ground water recharge in the entire coastal areas in the State.

He also said that this rainfall was more than 50 percent of total railfall during the month of June. The only difference is the recharge will vary in delta, upland and agency areas, the senior scientist observed.
