CPI objects to demolition of temples
Communist Party of India (CPI) city secretary D Sankar charged officials of Krishna district and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation with creating fear among the people in the city by demolishing temples and widening roads in an unscientific manner.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Donepudi Sankar said District Collector and Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner had taken up widening of roads and drainages without taking consent of Municipal Council which was against the rules.
“It is not correct that the government administration goes aggressively and is demolishing the temples forcibly at midnight. The Collector and the Commissioner are responsible for the ‘anarchism’ prevailing in the city in the name of development.
How do the officers take decisions to demolish temples and houses of common people without accord of Municipal Council and Mayor,” Sankar said.
He expressed concern that the acts of officials might lead to communal clashes as sentiments of citizens.
The CPI leader also found fault with Vijayawada Member of Parliament Kesineni Srinivas saying that the MP was acting against the sentiments and interests of citizens.
He said people were expressing strong objections over the process of widening roads and drainages form Chittinagar to Milk Project area as they got huge loss in the previous extension. The officials were careless about the loss to people’s property and their anguish.
The CPI leader said that the city was caught in a mess because of uncaring manner of the officials. The traffic system in the city was also badly affected, he alleged. CPI city secretary G Koteswara Rao was also present.
