Vijayawada: Former MLC K S Lakshmana Rao demanded that the State government should enhance the upper age limit for candidates appearing for Group-II exams up to 44 from existing 40 years, besides increasing the number of posts.

Speaking to The Hans India on the sidelines of an awareness meeting on Group-II examination, conducted by MB Vignanakendram in collaboration with DYFI, here on Sunday, Rao recalled that the State government had increased age limit up to 40 years from 39 years in 2014.

But, he said, there were no notifications from APPSC for the last two years and the aspirants who were in the age group of 38 and 39 had lost opportunity to sit for Group-II exams. “To enable those candidates to take the competitive examinations, the State government must increase the age limit,” he demanded.

Despite 5,000 posts lying vacant for Group-II category, the State government had issued notification for 750 posts only earlier. But it should increase the number of posts in the coming notification of APPSC, he demanded.

On changes in the Group-II syllabus, he apprised aspirants that the latest additions were in respect of AP History and AP Economy. Issues relating to State bifurcation, AP Reorganisation Act, current financial crisis in the State were included additionally.

This apart, concepts such as new trends in disaster management and environmental sustainable development were also included, he added. He told the aspirants that no study material was available on the latest addition to the syllabus, and hence they have to rely on Telugu Academy and NCERT textbooks and some good reference books. “Make best use of available six months,” he told aspirants.
