Talking to the media at Tammileru aqueduct near Janampeta village in Pedavegi mandal of West Godavari district on Sunday afternoon, the Minister said that with the release of water from Thotapalli reservoir, the ayacut in both Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts will get full water for the crops.

He said that the government has decided to complete the works of Polavaram Left Main Canal (PLMC) and supply Godavari water through lift irrigation by June 17 next year.

He said that the government has decided to release water through lift irrigation before completion of Polavaram project for the benefit of farmers under Yeleru reservoir ayacut. The Minister said the government is committed to complete the Polavaram irrigation project by 2018 and some foreign

agencies are ready to join hands in the construction of this national project. Uma said that within two years, all the pending projects in the State will be completed to supply irrigation water.

He said that the Chief Minister is keen on completion of all the irrigation projects in the State. The Minister pointed out that the prestigious Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) was completed within one year.

He said the Godavari water that was released from PLIS so far covered 68 km and was flowing at a level of 2 metres. Within four days, the Godavari water will enter Krishna river, he added. Uma flayed Jagan for indulging in mud-slinging against the State government. He wondered why the Opposition Leader was criticising implementation of PLIS.

He pointed out that the opposition parties have created an uproar stating that the two Godavari districts would turn into a desert with the PLIS and approached courts alleging corruption in the project.

Despite the opposition posing hurdles, the government has completed the PLIS in time, he said. The Minister stated that the government will link Vamsadhara and Nagavali also. He said during last two years, the government has spent Rs 15,000 crore on pending irrigation projects.
