​Kakinada: As the flood level reaches to 13.75 feet by Tuesday evening, second warning was issued at Dowleswaram and necessary precautions were taken in East Godavari district to evacuate the people in low-lying lanka villages to safer places, said H Aun Kumar, District Collector.

While talking to the media at collectorate on Tuesday, the Collector said that the Godavari level at Bhadrachalam was reported as 52.4 feet by Tuesday evening and third warning may be issued at Bhadrachalam, if it reaches to 53 feet.

He further said that situation would be normal during second warning time generally and the access to villages was affected in newly-merged mandals in agency area, where boats were arranged with specific instructions to officers to arrange more, if the situation warrants. Similarly, the lanka villages in Konaseema were also alerted and the flood duty special officers reached their respective mandals for taking up relief works, if necessary.

Joint Collector S Satyanarayana and RDO (Amalapuram) Ganeh Kumar were asked to visit the flood-prone villages for taking up precautionary measures.Identification of relief camps at different places were done and rice, kerosene and red dal distribution was ordered to flood victims at Kunavaram area in the agency.

The Collector said that 13 lakh cusecs outflow was reported at Dowleswaram and as per the CWC forecast, the level will increase by one feet and then it starts receding. The Collector warned fishermen against venturing into Godavari for fishing in the coming two days. Earlier, the Collector visited Godavari Barrage at Dowleswaram to assess the flood situation.
