Birthday fete of first Parliamentarian today
Telugu Sakti president B V Ram said here on Thursday that HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, MLAs and others will attend the birthday fete of Tilak, is the third candidate in securing highest number of votes next to Jawaharlal Nehru and R Narayana Reddy in 1952. When he was asked to contest again from Vizianagaram in 1957, Tilak refused the offer giving room for new faces.
​Visakhapatnam: The 96th birthday of the first Parliamentarian of Vizianagaram (1952-57) Kala Prapoorna Kandala Subrahmanyam Tilak will be organised under the aegis of Telugu Sakti at Lalithanagar here on Friday.
Telugu Sakti president B V Ram said here on Thursday that HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, MLAs and others will attend the birthday fete of Tilak, is the third candidate in securing highest number of votes next to Jawaharlal Nehru and R Narayana Reddy in 1952. It may be recalled that when the UPA government has forgotten the name of Subrahmanyam Tilak to invite him for the felicitation function held in Parliament on May 13, 2012, Telugu Sakti president Ram informed the Centre that Tilak is alive and he should be felicitated, along with other MPs, on the occasion of Parliament completing 60 years.
Then the Central government immediately invited the first MP asking Ram to escort him to New Delhi where he was felicitated by President, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker.
Again, the freedom fighter Tilak was also honoured by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on August 15, 2015 during the Independence Day celebrations held in the city.
