Rajamahendravaram: Rapid action teams have been constituted in PHCs in Rampachodavaram agency area in East Godavari district for early detection and prompt treatment of malaria cases, said KVN Chakaradhar Babu, Project Officer, ITDA, Rampachodavaram.

He said that in agency area 2,339 positive case of malaria were detected since January this year and they were given medical treatment. Spraying of first round synthetic pyrathin liquid was done in 935 habitations in 31 sub-PHC areas since 15th April 2016 in agency and the second round would be done from 25th August to 31st August, covering a total of 3.52 lakh population, he added.

He maintained that to control larva in stagnated water releasing of Gambuzia fish would be done during the month of September and efforts have been made for chlorination of drinking water sources.

He further said that micro planning to cover problematic habitations and keeping sufficient drugs to control malaria were already initiated.

The PO said that as a precautionary measure, the children in 120 Ashram schools in the agency were given MTC one dose and proposals were ready to supply 3.65 lakh mosquito nets in agency area. He also said that all the medical and paramedical staff were alerted in the agency area for preventive measures to control malaria.
