Rajamahendravaram: AP State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) issued a notice on the East Godavari collector H Arun Kumar over non-payment of ex-gratia announced by State and the Centre, to the victims of Godavari Pushkaralu stampede.

The APSHRC was responding to the petition filed by the president of Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Association (APCLA) Muppalla Subba Rao.

According to Muppalla Subba Rao, the State government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 each to people injured in the stampede, while the Centre announced Rs 50,000.

Twenty out of 51 injured did not get compensation. It is because of the failure of the Collector in providing information to the State as well as the Centre, the petitioner said.

The petitioner urged the commission to take steps to provide ex-gratia to victims apart from taking action on the District Collector. The commission asked the Collector to submit a detailed report before September 13.
