Bukkarayasamudram (Anantapur): IT and Information Minister Dr Palle Raghunatha Reddy has called upon the people to take up tree plantation on a massive scale in the district and get involved actively in planting of trees in every backyard of residential homes.

Participating in the tree plantation programme at Devarakonda village in Bukkarayasamudram mandal here on Wednesday, Palle stated that tree plantation had been taken up in the village in 65 acres of government land as part of increasing the green cover in the district from 10 per cent to 33 per cent.

He said that all sections of people should actively participate in the mission and own it. He revealed that on July 28 tree plantation will be done on 25 hills in 14 Assembly constituencies and 10 lakh plantations will be done on a single day, as part of Konda Panduga.

He advised every family to plant at least one tree in their house premises. He asked the Forest department to get ready to supply saplings from their nurseries.

The Minister suggested that essay writing competitions be organised to popularise the greening mission in the district.District Collector Kona Sasidhar lauded the people for participating on a massive scale and particularly SHG women. DFO handrasekhar, Government Whip Yaminibala and ZP chairman Chaman Sab and SP Rajasekhar Babu were present.
