Tirupati: In a significant development, a 20-member team of Kapu, Balija political and legal JAC leaders met senior Congress leader Chintha Mohan at his house here on Wednesday.

The Kapu and Balija leaders from the 13 districts of the State, after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala visited Chintha Mohan as part of their efforts to enlist the support of all sections including political leaders irrespective of party affiliations in the State to their struggle for achieving Kapu reservation.

The Kapu and Balija leaders led by Akula Ramakrishna explained the former MP of Congress about the raw deal meted out to their community all these years and also spoke on the police acting in a harsh and rude manner with Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham recently when he was on an indefinite fast along with his family members while seeking Chintha Mohan and his party support to get justice to Kapus and Balijas in the State. The team also includes prominent Kapu and Balija leaders Sivarayal and Gandhi.

The discussion in the hour-long meeting with Kapu and Balija leaders was not only on the present political scenario in the State and but also on various issues being faced by farmers, workers, women, unemployed and poor, said Mohan in a press release here on Wednesday.

The meeting assumes significance in the context of the friction between the Kapu, Balija leaders and the TDP government resulting in some violent incidents in the State, portending the imminent realignment of various outfits both political and non-political in the coming days. It is learnt that Mohan assured his party’s support to the Kapu, Balija movement against the government.
