Vijayawada: Higher education scheme launched by Kapu Corporation evoked poor response from the students. In order to promote higher education among the students of Kapu, Balija and sub-castes, the Kapu corporation resolved to sanction subsidy of Rs 10 lakh and bank of loan of Rs 10 lakh to pursue higher education in foreign universities.

State government vigorously campaigned about providing financial help to the students to pursue higher education through Kapu corporation. The corporation announced to give assistance to 400 students under the scheme in Andhra Pradesh.

But, only 160 students turned up to avail the benefit. The Kapu corporation conducted interviews of the aspiring students at the State guest house on Wednesday and certificates of the students were verified on Tuesday.

However, only 160 students turned up on Wednesday Taken by surprise to the low-key response, Kapu corporation director, V Sambasiva Rao, told The Hans India that Kapu corporation will conduct the another round of interviews next month and felt that education scheme needs more publicity.

He said the government gives subsidy of Rs 10 lakh to the students and provide Rs10 lakh bank loan to pursue education abroad.

He said the students have to repay the bank loan after getting the job but Kapu Corporation will give the guarantee to the bank on behalf of the students. Students from Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari and Prakasam districts attended the interview.
