Vijayawada: Reviewing the progress of works relating to Krishna Pushkaralu, Energy department Principal Secretary Ajay Jain said 95 per cent of works were completed and the remaining would be finished by August 9.

Speaking to press persons here on Wednesday, he said the AP Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL) Limited had spent Rs 117 crore on Krishna Pushkaralu.

According to him, the department had installed four new sub-stations with 133 KV lines; 175 high mast lights were installed at the bathing ghats and 577 additional transformers were arranged in Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool districts during the last eight months. He further said that the SPDCL had also arranged fencing to 702 transformers to check electrocutions.

He said the department had also painted 2,700 poles which were dangerous to the people. The official further informed that 2,147 high capacity conductor boxes were replaced to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the 12-day festival. “The Energy department is fully geared up to provide the best of services to pilgrims,” he asserted.

Referring to LED street lamps installation campaign in the State, he said 4.40 lakh LED bulbs were installed against the target of 5.5 lakh LED bulbs in 110 urban local bodies of the State. He said that the government had instructed the SPDCL to complete the works by October 2016.

He said the installation of LED street lamps were completed in Vizag, and the works would be completed in Vijayawada and Guntur very soon.

He informed that the SPDCL was fully geared up to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Krishna Pushkaralu as two hot line teams would be kept ready in Vijayawada and Guntur to monitor the high power lines. He said the power supply can be restored with online facility in case of interruption to the high power lines.
