Chittoor: District Collector Siddharth Jain has appreciated District SP G Srinivas for introducing Community Police Officers (CPOs) concept in the district for better policing. The Collector launched the police recruitment training camp for CPOs at District Police Office (DPO) here on Friday.

In order to ensure CPOs selected as police constables, the SP has taken an initiative to conduct police recruitment training camp for them by spending Rs 30 lakh. Jain said that 10,000 employment opportunities were created for unemployed in the district in the last two years.

The SP said that there was tremendous interest among the public to join as CPOs and provide their services on voluntary basis. He stated that 2,800 CPOs from the total of 4,800 have successfully completed six months training.

As many as 102 CPOs were selected for police recruitment training camp after screening,” he added. Srinivas said that there is no age restriction for selection of CPOs. However, they should have good health for discharging duties, he stated. He said CPOs would not get any preference in selection for police constable jobs.

Srinivas said that there was no age restriction for selection of CPOs. Additional SPs V Ratna and Radhakrishna, DRDA Project Director Ravi Prakash Reddy, DSPs Giridhar, Lakshmi Naidu, Ramakrishna and other police officials were present.
