The CPI leader also said that the Chief Minister should ask Union Ministers Sujana Chowdary and Ashok Gajapathi Raju to tender resignations to their posts in order to exert pressure on the BJP-led NDA government for granting SCS to AP and also for TDP to prove its commitment towards the State.

Chittoor: CPI district secretary Rama Naidu demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should dismiss Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and P Manikyala Rao from the cabinet as they openly declared that there was no chance for Andhra Pradesh to get Special Category Status (SCS).

Speaking to The Hans India here on Saturday, Rama Naidu alleged that the TDP had failed to convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accord SCS to the State.

He said that opposition parties have aggressively participated in the bandh on August 2 for SCS and made it a success. “But, the ruling government had tried to dilute the bandh by arresting workers of YSR Congress and Left parties,” he alleged. The CPI leader slammed the Chief Minister for lacking interest to get SCS for AP.

He asked as to why Ashok Gajapathi Raju did not attend the Rajya Sabha when serious debate was going on SCS despite instructions from the Chief Minister.

Rama Naidu demanded that the Central government to expedite the works of Polavaram Project by allocating at least Rs 5,000 crore every year.

He asked the Chief Minister to lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi for convincing Narendra Modi to grant SCS for AP. Referring to the Pattiseema Project, Rama Naidu said that the project would be of no use to Rayalaseema region. He further said that the YSRCP and Congress parties were trying to derive political advantage from the lapses of the TDP government.
