Visakhapatnam: The city witnessed hustle bustle activity on Saturday midnight when youngsters cut the cake on the Beach Road to mark the beginning of the day long Friendship Day. The midnight police beat also did not deter them.

The youngsters are making good use of Facebook and internet for searching suitable quotes to suit the occasion and their friends.
Fearing disturbance from the law enforcing agencies, many are planning to celebrate the day on the beach faraway from the city and terrain outside the city.
Since the day happened to be a Sunday, the activity will be more. Gift shops, cake outlets and food joints have announced special items for the occasion and promised to deliver them to the destination.
Gift shops have come with variety of friendship bands and bracelets. While school children are preferring toon prints, the college going youth are asking for colourful designs that would last days after the event. The children also preferring low budget bands while the adults are going for expensive ones to manifest their intensity of friendship.
The hotels have also announced a bonanza of events like live music shows, games and many others to ensure good time for youngsters.
The rich and the upper middle class youth will be making the evening with music sessions at The Park on Sunday. Popular DJs Bobsy, Sandeep and Paul are all set to roll out best music.
Hotel Novotel has also announced some exciting evening.Event managers said the middle and the lower middle classes would mostly spend the day at CMR Central where movies and other forms of entertainment would be available entire day.
But some sensible youth grouping with NGOs have decided to avoid the gala shows and go for special themes in service of the society. Ken Foundation is planning to paint the walls of the paediatric ward at KGH in the morning and volunteers of Vizag Smiles will give a dance performance at CMR Central at 6 pm to celebrate the spirit of friendship.
