Tirupati: Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara is witnessing a heavy rush of pilgrims due to consecutive holidays.According to temple sources, as many as 82,037 devotees had darshan of Lord Venkateswara on Saturday, while about 68000 pilgrims had darshan on Sunday (till 6 pm).

Due to heavy rush, the resulting queue line of devotees is extended outside the complex. The total amount of the Hundi offering on Saturday was Rs 2.74 crore while it was Rs 3.58 crore on Sunday, according to TTD official sources.

TTD has geared up to meet the heavy turnout of pilgrims expected due to the three days of consecutive holiday - second Saturday, Sunday and Independence Day on Monday. The pilgrim rush is expected to recede only on Tuesday but only to resume again due to Rakshabandhan holiday on Thursday.
