It may be mentioned here that Chittoor I town have filed cases against certain working journalists. He asked police officials to probe the matter impartially. Indian Journalist Union member V Krishna expressed anguish over series of attacks on scribes in the State. He stressed on the need for providing certain privileges for the journalists to discharge their duties without any fear. 

Chittoor: Scribes staged a dharna at Gandhi Statue here on Thursday, protesting against police for foisting cases on certain accredited journalists without ascertaining facts. Later, they organised a rasta roko demanding the government to take action against the police officials, who have registered cases against the scribes.

The CPI leader Natarajan has condemned the police attitude towards the scribes and demanded that the government should take action against police officials.
Journalist union leaders Jayaraj, Prakash, Ashok, Shiva, Gajapathi, Hemanth, Pavan and others were present. The leaders resolved to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and submit a memorandum to him in this regard shortly. Meanwhile, Circle Inspector Vijaya Kumar said that no cases were filed against journalists but admitted that he had received complaints.
