Vijayawada: Former Minister and APCC vice-president Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, sent his resignation letter to the party along with his son Devineni Avinash, who is the AP Youth Congress president and his loyalist and Krishna district Congress president Kadiyala Butchi Babu.

He also met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his riverview residence and told him that he would return to the TDP fold on September 15 along with his supporters. He was accompanied by his son Avinash and TDP State president K Kala Venkatrao.

Nehru wanted the Congress leadership to accept the resignations and allow them to leave the party gracefully. However, the APCC here announced that the party had suspended the three leaders even before their resignations were received.

Interacting with the media persons after his meeting with Naidu, the former Minister said that he was one of the founding members of the party and returning to the party was homecoming for him. “I have started my political career with the TDP while it was being formed in the initial days. I had to leave the party in a most painful situation.

Now, I am coming back to the party with an objective to be part of the development of the State and particularly in the development of the new capital, Amaravati,” he said. While claiming that it was homecoming for him and his supporter Butchi Babu, Nehru said that his son Avinash was feeling uncomfortable with the change. He said Avinash had started his political career with the Congress and now switching over to the TDP had caused inconvenience to him.
