Speaking at the half-yearly crime review meeting, in the city on Wednesday the DIG said that police personnel should improve their understanding of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) and that every file should be uploaded online without fail. He regretted that many cases including non-bailable cases in the district were pending and directed officials to form special teams to arrest the accused in non-bailable cases immediately.

He instructed the officials to go in for paperless administration in the police department. “Even though laptops are being given to Sub-Inspectors to encourage paperless administration, they in turn are delegating the function to the constables, said the DIG and advised the Sub-Inspectors against such a practice.

Every police station should be paperless and reports of all charge sheets and investigations should be uploaded online, said the DIG. He said that shopkeepers and establishments with a customer base of more than 100 should install CC cameras on their premises without fail. He commended the police personnel for their performance during the Krishna Pushkaralu and said they had brought a good name to the department.

He asked them to implement friendly policing in the district. The DIG assured that special medical camps would be established for police personnel on bandobust and other major duties. Referring to the accidents at Perupalem Beach in Mogalturu mandal, the DIG observed that there were liquor shops near the beach and students and youth were venturing into the sea under the influence of alcohol.

He directed officials to remove the liquor shops near the beach and also shops situated 100 metres below the main roads in the district, in coordination with excise officials.
