Erring contractors to face action
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu warned irrigation contractors against delay in executing projects. “If they fail to meet deadlines they will be shunted out of the State,” he said and declared in no uncertain terms that lethargy in work would be tolerated.

Addressing a review meeting at the Police Conference Hall here on Thursday, the Chief Minister expressed displeasure at the tardy progress of irrigation projects in Rayalaseema. “We have taken up works of all pending projects in the regions and will complete them with a mission approach,” he remarked. “Had the contractors and engineers worked hard, water would have been brought to Gollapalle reservoir. It would have helped in irrigating hundreds of acres this year,” he stated.
The Chief Minister, who took an aerial survey of the projects in the region, claimed that he had a better understanding of Gandikota, Jeedipalle and other projects more than that of engineers in Irrigation Department. Naidu said arrangements would be made to supply water to Rayadurgam and Kurnool west from Handri-Neeva project.
He said the State government made arrangements for diversion of 100 tmcft of water to Krishna and the existing Krishna delta water to Rayalaseema. Naidu vowed to complete Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari projects.
He said 5.5 lakh LED bulbs installed in 110 municipalities in the State could be monitored through censors. Naidu said he had camped in the district for four days to personally monitor the efficiency of the rain guns. Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, irrigation secretary Sasibhushan Kumar and others were are also present.
