Visakhapatnam: CPM politburo member B V Raghavulu while welcoming Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan’s fight for Special Category Status (SCS) observed that there was no necessity to hold guns to achieve the demand.
Raghavulu, who was here on Sunday, to participate in a seminar on ‘Obstacles for North Andhra Development-Alternatives’ organised by the Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA), suggested Pawan to prove his commitment by continuing his fight for the people without limiting the agitation to public meetings.
There are no technical obstacles in the Act for granting SCS to AP. The NDA government can amend the Act, if it feels necessary, to accord SCS. Failing which, the people will never pardon both TDP and the BJP,” he averred. With regard to the separate railway zone for Vizag, the politburo member said that it was the long-cherished and pending demand of the north Andhra and it should be given to Vizag at any cost.
He also suggested the Centre not to consider the objections raised by the Odisha government in respect to SCS and take a positive decision at the earliest. He demanded the BJP to take the sentiments of north Andhra people into consideration and sanction separate railway zone. “Whoever fights for the Special Category Status and separate railway zone for Vizag, we welcome their initiative and have no objection in joining them,” he stated.
