​​Vijayawada: The organ donation of a brain-dead person took place at Manipal Hospitals in the city on Tuesday. Chavvakula Anvesh Babu (24) became an organ donor in the city.

The doctors of Manipal Hospitals confirmed him as brain-dead following serious illness on Monday. The parents of Anvesh donated his organs through Jeevandhara organisation. Liver, kidneys and eyes were taken from him and sent to various hospitals.

New executive body for Mahila Morcha

Amaravati: Chavali Padma has been appointed as BJP Mahila Morcha Guntur district president on Tuesday. BJP district president Nallabothu Venkata Rao handed over appointment to her at a programme held at the BJP office in Guntur city.

Among others who appointed to the executive committee include Kolli Sujatha and T Udayasri (general secretaries), Dasari Lakshmi, TG Kalavathi and M Ranganayakamma (vice-presidents), Narra Kamala Kumari, Bhimavarapu Rajani, P Pavani, Bathula Annamma (secretaries) and P Lalitha (treasurer). The tenure of the new committee is three years. Chavali Padma said that she would try to strengthen the party in the district.

Seminar on export business on Sept 27

Vijayawada: The Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI), in association with Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC), will be organising a seminar on ‘Export business – procedures and documentation’ in Kakinada on September 27.

The programme will benefit entrepreneurs of local markets, individuals, professionals and prospective exporters. The programme will dwelt on the procedures and regulations of exports, schemes for exporters and foreign trade policy.

Training for police recruitment

Vijayawada: Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation invited applications for free training programme for police sub-inspector and constable recruitment. In a press release here on Tuesday, corporation media consultant B Venkatrayudu said that the corporation is inviting applications from candidates of Kapu, Balija, Ontari and Telaga castes for the free training programme.

Aspirants have to apply between September 15 and 21 and the candidates will be selected on first come first served basis. Venkatrayudu said that the Police Recruitment Board would fill up 800 sub-inspector posts and 2,500 constable posts. The free training programme would be very useful to the candidates to get practical experience necessary for the examination, he said.
