Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan ordered the officials of engineering department as well as contractors to expedite the right and left feeder channel works of 28 and 29 packages of Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti main canal by the end of December. He ordered the officials during a review meeting here on Wednesday at the Collector’s conference hall.
The Collector directed the engineers to fix a target and work to complete the work on a priority basis. He said that he will supply additional machinery to expedite the works. He took the contractors to task for the delay in taking up the works by showing invalid reasons. He asked the contractors to bring to his notice about the problems that are being faced by them.
The government has sanctioned Rs 65 crore for land acquisition, he reminded. But, the works have not been started despite land acquisition, he bemoaned. The contractors said Rs 5 crore worth bills were pending with the government for the earlier executed works. In turn, the Collector assured them that he persuade with the authorities concerned to clear their bills He expressed concern over the failure of engineers to extend water to kharif crops.
He said around 22,500 cubic metres of concrete work is still pending at 28th package and ordered to complete by executing 215 cubic metres per day. He further stated that to execute 6,000 cubic metres of soil works per day from the pending six lakh cubic metres of soil work.
He ordered the Roads and Buildings engineers and the contractors to start the works within a week pertaining to the distributory and bridge works of 29th package. He said Mucchumarri scheme is likely to be completed by next month and the farmers would get water to rabi crops by the end of March next year.
He ordered Adoni revenue divisional officer Obelusu, special deputy collectors Sashi Devi, Mallikarjun and revenue staff to upload the progress and photos of channel works through WhatsApp.
District Revenue Officer Gangadhar Goud, HNSS superintending engineer Narayana Swamy, Adoni RDO Obelusu, officials and contractors participated in the meeting.
