Tirumala: The holy event of ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ was conducted at Tirumala temple on the occasion of Brahmotsavms, which are underway, here on Tuesday.The surprise display at the ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ ritual at the Swamivari temple was not just garlands, but a massive green canopy made out of grapes, apple, sweet lemon, banana, pineapple and many more varieties spread over fifty square feet umbrella space giving cool shade over the utsava deities of Sridevi, Malayappaswamy and Bhoodevi mused the devotees.

The rest of the 80 square feet space of Rangayakula Mandapam where the holy ritual was performed was sparkled with sweet smell of green fruits and flavour of aromatic flowers. “We have been presenting variety of flowers at the ritual in the past, but for the first time, we have introduced the fruit decorations, says S Sreenivasulu, the deputy director of Gardens of TTD.

He said nearly 300 kgs of fruits were utilised for decorations. Even the deities were decked up with garlands of strawberries and crowns of orchids and bittergourds, well known as the choice of Lord Venkateswara.Most of the flowers and fruits were donated by philanthropists from Tiruvur, Dindigul, Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu.

Prominent exotic fruits used in the today's event were blue berries from Thailand, yellow grapes brought from South Africa, dragon fruits, plums, anjeer, amla, strawberries, white berries, green apple, sugar cane, bananas and bitter gourd.TTD executive officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao, TTD Trust Board Members and others were present.
