Rajamahendravaram: CPI State secretariat member Ravula Venkaiah demanded that the State government should declare health emergency as it was plagued by diseases like viral fevers, dengue, malaria and pedal edema.

Addressing press corps at CPI office, here on Friday, Ravula mentioned that six persons died, apart from tribals suffering from pedal edema were hospitalised in the Agency area. He accused the government for lack of medical facilities in Agency areas and added that tribals were resorting to local doctors and succumbing to diseases.

Reminding the announcement by State government of the completion of Polavaram project by 2018, he mentioned that the government is not speaking a word on the evacuated people due to the project. He recalled that the displaced people were left on roads with regard to the projects like Thotapalli and demanded for the better package for the displaced people due to Polavaram project.

He urged the government to provide employment to youth who have completed the age of 18 years. He warned that CPI along with all parties will take agitation in support of the displaced in phased manner against the government by taking inspiration from Alluri Sitharama Raju.

CPI district secretary Tatipaka Madhu observed that the Telugu Desam government did nothing to SCs and STs in the last two and half years. He said that the people of the State were ignored on the name of capital Amaravati. He warned the government of stern reaction if SC/ST sub-plan funds were diverted.
He also demanded the government to make BC sub-plan as an act as assured before elections.

He announced that campaign will be taken up through Jeep jathas demanding reservations in private sector. He called upon the people to participate in Chola Collectorate programme which is going to be held on 21st of November. CPI leaders Kirla Krishna and Meesala Satyannarayana were present on the occasion.
